Choosing a health plan during Open Enrollment can feel overwhelming — especially as we head into Thanksgiving week. But reviewing three key areas now can save you money, stress, and unexpected bills throughout 2026.

1️⃣ Check Your Doctor Network

Even if nothing in your life changed, your plan’s network might have.Doctors come and go from networks every year — and many clients don’t realize it until a bill arrives.

Make sure your:✔️ Primary care doctor✔️ Specialists✔️ Children’s doctors✔️ Preferred clinics

…are all in-network for 2026.

2️⃣ Review Your Prescriptions

Prescription tiers change often — and a tier shift can increase your costs dramatically.

Check for:

  • Tier changes

  • Deductible requirements

  • Prior authorizations

  • Generic availability

If your medication moved up a tier, switching plans may save hundreds.

3️⃣ Compare Total Yearly Costs (Not Just Premiums)

Cheap premiums don’t equal cheap coverage. To know your real cost, consider:

  • Monthly premium × 12

  • Deductible

  • OOP maximum

  • Specialist & urgent care copays

  • Medication costs

This is why I created the 2026 Coverage Cost Calculator Worksheet — it gives you a full picture of your actual costs.

The best health plan for you is the one that meets your needs before emergencies happen.Review early. Ask questions. Avoid surprises.
